Installation at D Center
Here are a few pics from Breastival Vestibule’s current installation at D Center in Baltimore on view until April 14.
This installation is part of the Maryland Institute College of Art 2013 MFA in Community Arts Thesis Show.
BIG THANKS to Marshall Clarke for these beautiful photographs.
We had a little gathering at the D Center show to welcome friends from afar, featuring performances from both local and traveling artists. Baltimore musician Marybeth Mareski embellished the large Breastival with gentle and transcendent guitar musings, while participants shared stories and conversation.
Visiting artists Adrienne Anemone and Silky Shoemaker both introduced original performances they composed in response to the subject matter. Adrienne moved and delighted the audience with a custom composed song, an ode to breasts, featuring her signature combination of operatically rendered heartfelt vocal expression balanced with balanced with a touch of mischevious humour.
Silky Shoemaker picked up where Adrienne Anenome left off, navigating a cast of three, masked figures as she articulated a trio of stories tracing her own carnal evolution.
Shoemaker’s piece culminated in a victory dance supported by two plushly costumed dancing figures joining her in triumphant and liberatory glee. Afterwards visitors gathered for conversation and embroidery in the vestibule until it was time to leave. It was a magical evening all around!!
